Anger Management Therapy

Anger is an emotionally related, psychological interpretation of having been offended, wronged or denied, and a desire to then undo the injustice by retaliation. Anger can also be defined as an emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable emotional response to a perceived provocation.

Anger: A primordial mode of expression; An inability to calmly cope with that which is being perceived.

Some physical occurrence correlating with feelings of anger are increased heart rate, blood pressure, and increased levels of adrenaline and noradrenalin. Anger is also a part of the brain's response to a perceived threat or harm, known as “fight or flight”. When a person makes the conscious choice to take action to immediately stop the threat or behavior of another outside force, anger may become the predominant feeling behaviorally, cognitively, and physiologically or the person can simply choose to recognize the change they need, then seek to bring about these changes in a calm safe manner, thus avoiding the Anger State.

Simply put, Anger is a Primitive Emotional Expression to a need or desire for change.

What is perceived to be the cause of the anger is merely a trigger to something that happened in the past. Once the desired change can be identified, change may be achieved without the need for anger.

Feelings of being offended, wronged or denied should not be suppressed but must be processed and the desired change must be identified to overcome the anger impulse.

Anger and fear induce automatic physiological responses that inhibit clear thinking and articulate verbal responses. The absence of Anger promotes Peace, Harmony, Understanding, Unity, and love.
